About the limited edition collection: music | text | art | theory

The accompanying physical pamphlet, digital zine, art cards and sticker set expands themes explored in audio across theory-based fiction, short essays and artwork. These include: reflections on the process of writing and authorship; how we tell and edit our own story; daydreaming about images, meaning and legacy; navigating interstitial online spaces, and more. Replications of analog collages function to link sections.

Text and collages created 2018-2021. Printed by Heavy Cloud Press.

“Part One begins with aquatic percussive clutter and swirling sonic debris, before moving into text-generated (the author's own as well as some literary heavyweights) synth tones as a sci-fi melancholy floats up from the ocean floor and spreads across lonesome streets.

“Part Two shares a dialogue with what came before, but follows its own simulated network and engagement with the subconscious. Gurgling, watery synths blend with blasts of cut-up samples, polyphonic tones and VHS alien chatter. Melodic waves and lofi loops provide a weathered neon calm.” – Without Origin or Reality (2021)

“No matter what sounds are present, they all have the same quality of feeling, well, unreal.” – On the Fringes of Sound

“The simulacrum is never that which conceals the truth—it is the truth which conceals that there is none. The simulacrum is true.” – Jean Baudrillard, Selected Writings (1988)
