“In one moment, we are treated to droning pads and shimmering texture. Then, in the next moment, we get somewhat discordant sounds and percussive textures, You can hear this dynamic at play in "Solastalgia" over the course of its twelve minutes of warm wandering sounds. Still, with other tracks, this dynamic still plays out, though not to the same degree. It is truly wonderful that this work found its way out of the archives and into my ears, through whatever means it did so.”

have yet to translate the song titles so the artist's intentions are somewhat of a mystery to me, but the wavering surface noise creates the theme of a dialogue between music & technology before becoming invisible to my ears. this conjures memories of listening to music as a child (long before the sterility of digital media), when i rarely took notice of the hiss & pops of records, 8-tracks, tapes, & am radio because they were a normal, necessary aspect of recorded sound. nice to be back again.
